We have been active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2018.

Over the years, we have collaborated with the DRC's Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) and the mobile network operator Vodacom DRC to produce population and mobility estimates for development and humanitarian purposes (see past publications), with a particular focus on childhood immunisation.

As a technical partner of the EPI, we are currently supporting them through the Equitable Access Fund (EAF), which aims to reduce the number of children in the country who have not received any doses by 35% by 2025, with a focus on 11 provinces. This work is part of the series of activities funded by the EAF by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

As part of this project, we provide the EPI and the chief medical officers (médecins chefs de zone) in each health zone with monthly reports on mobility and population trends in each health zone where we can produce estimates, as well as summary reports estimating mobility over 12 months at the national level.

This document is a methodological report describing the data and methods used to arrive at these estimates.
