Astract
This project is part of a continued collaboration between MBSSE and GRID3.
In this report, we assess the current coverage of nine Education Radio transmitters, which broadcast MBSSE’s Education Radio 'Radio Teaching Program'. The Radio Teaching Program is an initiative of the government of Sierra Leone to educate kids remotely when education institutions closed during the 2014-2016 Ebola crisis and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Secondly, we assess other known transmitters in the country for their potential to improve coverage. Finally, using our optimisation algorithm, we recommend locations for new transmitters to fill any remaining gaps in coverage.
